What sweetens life...

"From Nature to your table"

The richness and diversity of Portugal's flora are the base for great diversity and monofloral kinds of honey throughout the country. The most traditional ones are:

- Rosemary Honey

- Heather Honey

- Chestnut Honey

We also have other kinds of honey, such as Pennyroyal, Orange, Thistle, and Eucalyptus, all depending on the type of year.

But today I would love to spread the good word on APIMEL's honey, based in the heart of Portugal, taking advantage of a wide geographical area with extensive forest areas, meaning an exceptional territory for the practice of apiculture.

Family business, founded in 1981 by Fernando Ventura. Beekeeping was part of his family for previous generations, but he has deepened his skills plus a lot of love and time with field training to get to the authenticity of the product arriving at our homes today.

Nutritionally, 1 tablespoon of honey (21 grams) contains 64 calories and 17 grams of sugar, including fructose, glucose, maltose, and sucrose.

It contains virtually no fiber, fat, or protein.

Where honey shines is in its content of bioactive plant compounds and antioxidants. Darker types tend to be even higher in these compounds than lighter types.

APIMEL honey is one of the purest, the so-called raw honey, due to this, it will reveal a tendency to crystallize over time, especially when exposed to lower temperatures. This only occurs with raw honey, a proof of its authenticity. You may easily bring it back to a more liquid stare by heating it in warm water but never above 40º centigrade as this would destroy its properties.

Warm your hearts this year by helping local producers on their quest for survival.
